Thanksgiving Weekend 2013

We had a nice, quiet, and low key Thanksgiving weekend. We are all set and ready to go as far as the decorations go.  I remember back to years' past when Dan and I would throw everything up in a couple of hours and this year it took us about 3.5 days:)  Kieran was a little obsessed with the tree, but now we aren't chasing him out of it 24/7, which is nice. Svea kept commenting on how fun it was to be putting on the ornaments!
I think this was a bed or something like that, that she made for some imaginary animals?  I can't remember, but she didn't want it to be taken down so we took a picture and left it until morning when it all promptly was torn down and turned into something else.  This girl has an imagination!
Aww....we love pictures like this!
And these too, because it's real and it's what happens 90% of the time now when we try to get a picture of both kids together. These matching jammies are from my Dad and Lynn.  Lynn knew I wanted to get a matching pair for the kids each year and give them to them on Thanskgiving.  Thank you!  Very cute!
We literally have been anticipating the arrival of the "Elf on the Shelf" since last year after Thanksgiving when I bought it on sale.  It's been wrapped up in our closet since then.  We changed the concept a bit and instead of it being about naughty/nice we have it be that "Elfie" reports to Santa each night on all of the kind things we are doing together as a family.  Each day we open up a new act of service to try.  So far she has made a Christmas note for the mailman and made a picture for Gaga.  I asked her if she wanted me to write down what she wanted to say on her letter to the mailman as she sat there trying to write just like the picture above.  "No thank you...I already wrote on it":) We have say Hi to someone at church and buy a toy for a kid who doesn't get Christmas presents coming up next.  We've got to get to the store:)
It's been fun!  So far Kieran doesn't understand, obviously, but Svea is having a blast.  Dan has gotten to be with her most mornings so far and says she asks about him first thing and it makes her laugh.  I, on the other hand, and LOVING it.  It's so fun to come up with the goofy things he will do next!
Here is a preview of our Christmas card.  Svea was quite the poser.  Now, these are the nice ones.  I haven't even put the crazy ones up yet where she is laughing hysterically or sticking her tongue out.  We tried having my Mom take them, but Kieran wasn't having it so we tried the next day and used the self-timer.  I think the flashing lights helped him sit still in a trance.  He's not smiling by any means, but he's at least facing the camera:)
Little Ballerina girl!

Thank you to Gaga for taking care of the kids on Wednesday when we didn't have daycare services and thank you for coming.  I actually cooked a little bit,  but darn it I messed up the green bean casserole (it's SO easy) and my stuffing was a little dry.  I think the key word is I actually tried.  We also only had rotisserie chicken (don't judge), but we just called it turkey all day!  I also had my birthday.  I had a fun day...was with friends at work, ate donuts at every meal, got to spend a nice evening with my family, and it was just a very nice birthday.  Thank you to my family for making it a pleasant and nice birthday.
