Lovely Weekend

It's always a good weekend when we have pajamas, sun, and Daddy home on Saturday and half of Sunday!

We were lucky to have all three this past weekend. These two had fun entertaining each other:)

Svea was in the mood for playing dress-up and this is what she came up with.  We think she'd be a great trend starter or store buyer....what do you think? Two thumbs up dude!

Kieran started enjoying cereal, but unfortunately it blocked him up a bit.  It took a full day of not eating any to get thing moving again.  We forgot how much the intro to real foods effects the digestive system and it's odors....stinky! We are working on veggies, but we still get the "yak" face.

We closed on the refinance of our house..yeah!  When the man came to our door Svea said, "No guy, no come into my house".  Lovely:)  By the time he left she was saying, "Bye, thank you for coming to our house".  At least she has an instinct for stranger danger, but it's the manners we are working on! Svea and I also made it outside a few times to play in the snow.  It was a beautiful sunny couple of days.  We made a tiny snowman, took walks, exercised, and brought Abby Cadabby outside with us.  Fun times:) I LOVE playing in the snow even as an adult!

Great weekend.  We're just trying to stay afloat.  We think we've got it all together and then someone gets sick, daycare gets cancelled, someone has an evening meeting or appointment, or someone is having an emotional toddler meltdown.  It's all good, yet almost comical at times.  We had some friends awhile back who said their house was like a "gong show" with two small children.  Now we "get that"!

 As you can tell Kieran has gone from crawling, to sitting on his own, to getting up on his knees, to now pulling up to his feet in a matter of weeks! This boy blows me away. I think he is as strong as Superman:)  He is into everything and loves exploring as you can tell from these pictures!  Thank you Grandma and Grandpa D for my new costume:)  Thank you to ALL of the grandparents for the "love day" presents too. We have been reading Valentine's Day books and playing with stickers every day!

Jamestown Weekend

I have a whole bunch to talk about on the trip the kids and I took out to North Dakota this past weekend.  I have a crazy headache for the third time this week so I am just going to turn the lights low and catch up on some dvr.  When I feel better I'll hopefully have some pics and stories.  That Kieran is doing so many new things and Svea is way too smart for her own good!

We took off last Friday right after lunch to make a long weekend of it in Jamestown.  Mom and Ron just moved into their new house IN TOWN and I couldn't wait to get there!!!  It was so awesome to be there and have room to play. On top of that people actually came over!  Svea liked the new house and her Mini Mouse bedroom. Mom and I had fun talking about decorating and hanging pictures, and Kieran decided he was going to sit up on his own and learn how to crawl up onto his knees. 

 Kieran had a bath at Gaga and Grandpa's new house.  Sorry for the pink buddy!

 The beauty of my Mom being a therapist and working with children is she always has hundreds of toys to choose from to bring home to play with.  Svea played with a shopping cart full of food this time.

 My Mom plays piano and has had a piano for years, but it's either been at a friend's house or in storage for the past 13 years.  She finally has the room to have her piano in the house.  Svea immediately plunked down, banged on the keys and sang the ABCDEFG song. Mom got it on video, so I'll eventually get it on here.

 I left the room for a minute and came back to this.  Kieran is pulling himself up onto things on his knees.  At home today Dan and I watched him pull up to his FEET holding onto the bumbo. I'm not kidding.  This little boy is so not little anymore!

 Both kids were playing in the pack n play.  They are such sweeties!

We had a great time!  I forgot my camera so Mom had to email me these.  I promise next time I will bring it and take pictures inside and out! We stayed an extra day because of bad weather and Svea was sick. Gotta love midwest winters! Thank you Mom and Ron for having us so soon after you moved in:)

Happy Valentine's Day...

to all THREE of my loves!

Speaking of LOVE...I love these type of moments with our family.  They are so special, cozy, and blissful.  They happen so quickly though.  I hate saying goodnight to the kids at night.  I just want to snuggle them forever:) We were reading "Ten in the Bed" one of Svea's favorites from when she was Kieran's age.  He seems to like it too!

Svea goes back and forth from wanting to sit on the potty to refusing and wanting to go in her diaper to even using wanting to sit on the potty as a stall from going to bed at night.  She's a smart one!  A very strong willed two year old smart one.  She is giving us a run for our money and keeps us on our toes.  We love her to pieces even still!

Our Weekend

Both kids sleep anywhere from 6:45 am to 8 am.  Would you believe that they have yet to pick an 8 a.m. wake up time on the same day.  I swear it is every other day they flip flop.  Kieran will slept until 9 one morning and that was the day Svea decided to get up with the roosters.  today Svea slept until  7:50 a.m. and Kieran leaked his diaper so he was up at 7:15.  I choose to remain optimistic that one of these days it's going to happen:) Dan thinks I'm dreaming!

Here is the kids' favorite toys right now.  The farm and pig that they got for Christmas from Gaga and Grandpa. These two are a staple right now and I love watching Kieran, especially with the farm.  He is SO into it and he seems so much older when he is playing with it.  It's almost as if you can see his gears working and him saying, "ok gonna put that piece right there and then spin this part because I like it". Kieran is also finally getting used to cereal.  One down and many more flavors to go buddy! Tonight was the first night in awhile that we didn't give him tylenol before bed because of his cold. I'm praying he can start getting some sleep and allowing his mama some too:)

There was no church this past Sunday.  The weather was blizardy.  I really do miss church.  The kids and I will eventually make it...I promise, but we had a great day at home with each other all day.  We had banana chocolate pancakes, skyped with Grandma and Grandpa D., laughed, and enjoyed spending longer than 45 minutes together with all four of us awake!  It was awesome.  Tomorrow I have a 2 hour late start and Dan and I are hoping it's a full snow day so we can do Sunday again!

Svea is no longer constipated!  She went three times today in her diaper.  The third time she was standing on her stool in front of the bathroom sink singing to herself and playing with my combs.  I heard her say, "I poopy mommy," and walked in only to be told to, "GEt OUt, MOmmy"!  I made her rephrase it in a nice way, but it was a funny situation t o see her in. Her other newest thing is telling us, "No yell at me". If we ask her to do something or she is in trouble and we use a stern voice that's what we get.  The funniest was the other day when she screamed, cried, and ran down to her bedroom and slammed the door.  She opened it, stuck her head out and in a calm quiet voice said, "No yell at me"! 

I made skinny potatoes last night that I found on Pinterest.  Dan was checking out my boards and found it.  I checked the ingredients and we had everything in the house so we went for it.  They were unfreakingincredible!  I did not eat half the pan, said no one ever.  Dan did not eat the other half either. 

 Svea is into babies!  All day it was feed, burb, put to bed, dress, undress, and snuggle the babies.  I love when I caught her rocking her baby saying, "It's ok baby, it's okay baby".   The above picture she was trying to figure out what she was holding.  Then she wanted a picture with her and all of her babies!

 A special "potty treat" post coming soon!  Someone earned enough stickers (pee in the potty) to get a fun treat aka a dollar store toy!  

Last Week

Obviously last week was a busy one since I haven't been able to get even one post out.  Mostly we've just been sick and have gone to bed early.  At other times our time has been consumed with trying to get Svea to poop.  She is still withholding and refuses to go.  Things are a little better. And still other times our Internet just goes out or Dan is working  from home and I can't get onto the laptop.  Either way here is a recap from last week.

Kieran is scooting/crawling everywhere.  He's not super fast, but give him a few minutes and he can make his way across the living room. He is also into hair pulling!

We got Svea some snow pants and boots!  She has been asking to go outside in the snow so last Saturday night I took her out for a few minutes and then Sunday afternoon again in the backyard.  She loved it and didn't want to come in.  It was too cold for Riker though, his paws started to bleed and all we heard for the next day and a half was, "Riker got an owie out in the snow".

Proof of him crawling:)  Sickness has ravaged our home.  I was just knocking on wood the other day that we haven't had colds in a long time and no flu.  Well the fiery throats have started for everyone and we are anxiously awaiting for when they start subsiding.  

Kieran has started experimenting with a cup of water.  He is also slowly starting to like his food.  He's getting used to rice cereal.  Last night when I tried peas, he gagged. 

I am down to one lb. less than before Svea.  I made it in 6 months, but yet still I need to actually get my heart rate up.  I feel like a lump on a log, or maybe that's because I am sick.  My new goal is to get Kieran to sleep for longer than 3-6 hours at a time, get more sleep, and then work out here and there.  I would also like to finally do a triathlon again this coming summer.  It's been years and I'd like to do them again! 

Dan is busy with work.  Lent season is about to begin so there is always a lot to do.  One thing he is excited about is we had our dining room and kitchen painted.  No more yellow and he couldn't be happier.  He also won one of his fantasy football leagues again this year!

Kieran's 6 Month Stats

Kieran did well at his appointment.  He cried for about three seconds and then was done.  The Dr. said he was a happy and strong little guy.  He weighed 16 lbs. 1 oz. (23%) and was 26 3/4 inches long (53%).  His head size was in the 50% range, but I'm not sure where.  I thought he would for sure outweigh Svea at this point, but she was actually 1 ounce heavier...crazy right?  He is 3/4 inches longer than she was though.  That's why he "seems" so much bigger and in larger clothes.  The Dr. also thought his head looked great.  We'll cancel our P/T appointment and we are done with that.  I hope his head rounds out just a bit more. As far as his hearing goes she thought it might be a good idea to do genetic testing to see what caused his hearing loss just in case it's a gene mutation that has other abnormalities and the possibility of Svea has it too.  I told her we'd think about it, check into insurance, and see how his appointment goes in six months.  Other than that I got some questions answered about all of the hoopla that has been going on with Svea for the past three months on and off.  To make a long story short yeast and constipation are not our friends and we wish we lived in a bigger city because when we doctor in our small town we just rack up medical bills and end up driving up to the pediatricians anyway!  arghghg:)
