3 Months

Svea!  Today you are 3 months old and have grown so much the past month.  Here is what you've been up to.

-you were baptized this month by your Dad
-you started sleeping through the night the week I went back to work, however that was sleeping with Mom.  Once we put you back in your pack n play you now make it about 5 hours at a time, but you are still a great sleeper
-you are a cat napper during the day.  Your schedule is very predictable.  You eat, play, get cranky and immediately need to take your 30 to 45 minute cat nap.  Then we repeat the process all over again.

 -you wear size 0-3 month clothes and a few 3-6 month pieces
-you wear a size 1 diaper still and a size 2 at night
-you started really cooing and "talking" to us. You are more talkative in the morning and you giggled for the first time the day after your baptism. Mom was at work, but Dad got it on camera thank goodness!

 -you smile all the time now at Mom and Dad
-you probably weigh 11 1/2 to 12 lbs.
-you are the sweetest baby..I love how even in the middle of the night you will smile while I change you and almost flirt and show off. you are a very happy baby
-you need your pacifier for naps, but not at night
-you've started to notice the dog and cat

We feel so incredibly blessed to be your parents and have enjoyed this past month with you....we love you!

Svea's Baptism

Svea was baptized on January 23rd, 2010.  She was such a happy and content baby throughout the whole thing.  She was awake and alert and then fell asleep afterwards in my arms.  Her Daddy preached a sermon about answering your own call from God.  The scripture he chose to have read and what was on her cake was Isaiah 43:1  "I have called you by name, you are mine"

 Svea wore the baptismal gown that I wore as a baby.  I also assume that my Dad wore it since my Grandma gave it to my Mom.  When I looked up the company that made it I found it was established in 1947 so that's why I assume my Dad also wore it.  Sorry Dad, I suppose that gives away your approximate age:)

 Dan baptized Svea and it was truly a wonderful experience.  I am so happy that he was able to do this.  Stuart and Matt also helped with  the baptism and I loved how they were a part of it too. Dean read the scripture that Dan picked out.

 Svea's sponsors....Matt, Lacee, Pam, Kristin, and Stuart.  Yes, we know it's quite a few, but we don't know if we'll be blessed with another child so there were quite a few people that we wanted involved in our child's life.

 The whole Dornfeld crew...the family is really growing!  There was a photo of Dean and Kathy and all of the Grandkids, but I didn't get it on my camera...I need a copy!!!

We all went to our house afterwards and had soup, sandwiches, and lots of cake!  It is such a blessing to have such wonderful family and friends that were able to share this day with us.  God Bless Svea Grace child of God:)

Ready For Church

 Svea today after church.  She was smiling at Dan while he made goofy faces at her. She is smiling SO much these days and in the last two has really started to talk to us.  I must say the last four days at home with her have been so wonderful.  I wish I could do this part-time stuff all the time.  I keep praying:)

Pink Tutu Dress

I try REALLY hard to pick one photo that I like best when I do these photo shoots, but I just can't do it:) Svea got this dress from a co-worker of mine that had this draped over a diaper cake. We hoped she could wear it for Easter, but it fits now so it must run very small. I might try to cut the spandex that lines the chest so that she may still be able to wear it later too. We think she might have a touch of a cold or something. Her eyes have been watering a bit and you can tell in these photos if you look closely. She was obviously still very happy to pose for her mom though!

First Time In My Crib

Guess who took a nap today for the first time in her own crib?  It took us all afternoon, but she eventually fell asleep for about 45 minutes.  We just got our baby monitor yesterday and I had fun trying it out.  We have one that shows a picture of her and it makes me feel SO much better to be able to see her.  I was cleaning up around the house and I heard her whimpering, but instead of going in her room I could just look at the monitor and see that she was trying to soothe herself by sucking on her fingers so I didn't bother going in.  I almost gave up, but glad I didn't. Hopefully she will get better and better at this.  We'll eventually mount the camera somewhere instead of having it in the crib and I only put blankets on her like this for naps when I can see her. Currently she is half sleeping in her pack n play and half with me at night.  I start her out in her own "mini" bed and when she stirs like crazy and won't go back to sleep I put her in bed with me and she's immediately asleep. I'm glad she's learning to sleep on her own, but it makes me SO sad too.  It was weird  because today I could have put her in her swing and then we could have played as soon as she got up, but I gave up my selfish ways to train her to sleep on her own:(  Our baby is growing up!

Chicken Tortilla Soup

This is so newsworthy! I cooked again for the first time of the year:) I made this soup that I found on the internet, but of course I changed a few things (missed a few things) and made it my own. Yummmmm!!! IT's SO good. Dan's not a huge fan, but it's because he prefers more creamy soups. This one is chicken based.

1 onion
1 rotissiere chicken (pull off big chunks)
2 tbls olive oil
1 can black beans
1 bag of steamed corn
1/4 cup cilantro
2 cloves garlic
dash of salt
1 and half tsp of cumin
6 cups water
6 tsps. of chicken base

The original recipe had a whole system of adding this and then that in some special order while cooking it on high and then low to simmer. Yeah, I just threw all of it in the pot at one time and heated it up. It's also dairy free since Svea is not loving the dairy right now.

Of course a post wouldn't be a post without Svea...this is she and I after we made our soup!

Trip to the Andersons

Lacee, Laila, and Graham finally got to meet Svea. I had my haircut appt. in Plymouth on Thursday so Lacee watched her while I was away. She slept the whole time basically since she's been so sleepy with these shots. Anyway, it was great to finally have them meet her although Matt wasn't there. Laila loved holding the baby and she did a great job taking these pictures when I was gone. I LOVE the one with the picture designed by Laila. I think Svea's facial expression is so funny.

Bumbo!

I LOVE my Bumbo...thank you Papa and Lynn! She smiles for a few seconds everytime I put her in this. I'm sure we'll use it quite a bit in the future!

P.S. If this picture doesn't look like Dan! That is his little smile when he was this age.

Monkey Business

Svea after her bath on Friday morning after she wet the bed. We have to put a size larger diaper on her at night now that she is sleeping longer. Yes, you heard correctly! She has slept through the night two times this past week. The first time she slept six hours and just last night for seven. It feels great to get so many hours in a row. I love this picture. I can't believe how babies get cuter every day:) I'm not biased am I? :)

2 Month Check-Up

Yesterday Svea had her 2 month check-up at 10 weeks old. She is doing wonderful and is very healthy! I had gone to the drug store to get some tylenol to give her before her shots. The pharmacist asked me about how much she weighed and I guessed at LEAST 11 lbs. Well, at the doctor she weighed 11 lbs. 1 oz, but they subtract an ounce for the diaper so 11 lbs it is! She also grew 3 1/4 inches and is now 22 1/4 inches long. She's now in the 45% for weight and 35% for height. She is short like her parents! She finally fit into this cute outfit that Kathy bought for her. The picture is not the best because I only had a second before we left the house. Actually after I took this picture I quick changed her diaper one more time and she had a blow-out...so no cute outfit for going out for the day. We then put on a sleeper for convenience! She cried like I've never heard her cry before and as soon as the nurses left the room I cried too. She got over it quickly so I did too:)

Rubber Ducky

Last night after Svea's bath I thought she looked so cute in her yellow ducky pajamas. She likes them too as I caught her smiling again!

Look At Me!

Svea discovered herself this past week at Grandma Beth's in the mirror. We changed her on the floor right by the mirrored closet and she LOvED it! She woudl just stare at herself and smile and coo....she's starting to coo! It's so cute! Lately when she is fussy we sometimes just put her down on her changing table and she calms right down. She's also lasting longer at tummy time and playing on her back.
