Random Thoughts From the Dornfelds

-Spring is finally here! We've taken a few walks around the neighborhood and it feels so good to finally be able to be outside and enjoy it at the same time!
-One more week until Easter, and this year we get to spend it together. This will be my first Easter at PLC, and I have very high expectations...j/k:)
-Two weekends from now Dan is participating in his own little home improvement project. He is going to tile our countertops with granite tile. I will be leaving for the weekend to escape this destruction! I will post pictures so you can see how it turns out.
-Dan played Jesus in our Palm Sunday drama at church. Someone said he kind of looked like Bob Marley! I think it's just weird seeing him with any amount of hair!
-We're feeling pretty confident that Riker will make a full recovery. He continues to do well and improve. I think he even snores way less, but Dan isn't so sure.
-Meeko's new trick is driving Dan crazy. The cat will come to bed with me for an hour or so until Dan comes to bed. When Meeko hears Dan coming to get him to put him in the basement he dive bombs for underneath the bed and won't come out. The other night Dan had to turn off the lights, lay in bed, and pretend he was just going to bed. Fifteen minutes later Meeko showed his face and quickly darted for my neck only to be captured and returned to the basement for the night. Truly a smart cat....or so we think!
-That's about it. I'm looking forward to a quick weekend trip to see my Mom and Ron in Jamestown and Dan will make a short trip to go home to Wisconsin right after Easter. I can't wait until the average temps are in the 60's, 70's, and then 80's!!!

Zumba!

Right before Dan and I moved from Bismarck the YMCA was going through their what seemed like their 13th addition since I was a kid. First I must say almost fell over when I saw the new workout area and called Dan and said we NEED to go back. J/k...but it was amazing. Jill and I went to Zumba which is now offered at the new and improved Y! It was seriously the most fun exercise class I have ever gone to. If you've never heard of it it's a combination of latin and hip hop music. One of the nights we went out we were complaining that Bismarck doesn't have that many places to go out and dance. Zumba...is a cure for this! The closest class we have to wee little Paynesville, is in Willmar. So, I'm sure I'll be introducing this to my mom one weekend when she comes! Love, love, love this!

My Cousin Jill

My cousin Jill is like a sister to me. Since I don't have a sister she is the closest thing to that! We are two years apart and couldn't be more alike, except the fact that we look nothing alike. We love the shocked expression people give us when we tell them we're first cousins. We share the exact same humor, love to dance, laugh, take on new adventures, and have tons of fun. I surprised her this past weekend by visiting her out in Bismarck. It had been 8 months since I had been there and I was experiencing serious withdrawals. Many thanks to Dan for holding down the fort for three days because I really needed a visit! I called Matt, her boyfriend, and made sure she didn't have any plans although she and I had talked about this weekend in the past I had told her a couple of weeks ago that I couldn't come. Although I saw a few more friends it's always the best to see Jill. My favorite moments from the past with her were when we both moved home to Bismarck the summer of 2006 and lived in her parents basement for the summer. Going to the river during every waking moment we weren't working and having sleepovers were what we spent the majority of that summer doing. This post is just because I love my Jill so so much!

Turning a Corner

Riker update: He's growing back his hair! This is fantastic news. The vets think that maybe it just took a little while longer for all of the estrogen to leave his system after his surgery. Another thing that seems to be clearning up is that nasty infection. Dan can't smell it anymore, and well, I'll spare you the details on how we knew it was even there in the first place. He is still dripping urine a little bit especially after he goes outside, but we are holding onto hope at the couple of positive things that are happening lately. It's way less than before so that is why we are hanging onto hope!

Greece Bound!

Ok, so it's not us, but my Mom and Ron are currently en route to a two week stay in Greece with some couple friends. So that I can feel more connected to them I've placed a clock on the right hand side of our blog. They are 8 hours ahead of us. They are supposed to be putting up a blog themselves, as a group, so when I get that link I'll put it here as well! My good friend Candace has Rupert duty back in Jamestown. Poor Candace, I hope the little alien monster doesn't give her a heart attack.

Flat Ashlyn

We had a visitor this past week. Flat Ashlyn, a good friend of our niece Ashlyn, came to stay with us for a week. Here's a peak at what we did while she was here. She has to leave this weekend and will fly back to Wisconsin. We hate to see her go! Ashlyn, thank you for letting Flat Ashlyn come to visit! We are mailing these pictures and a letter explaining everything we did!
