There are many times when we are playing around the house, cooking dinner, or cleaning up toys that the kids will do or say something that we don't want to forget. I'm going to try and go through a typical day and think about all of the things that make these two Svea and Kieran! These pictures are from a few nights ago when the kids came across some hats. Svea was pretending to fish in this picture.
After sleeping Kieran is really happy or really crabby. If he wakes up on his own he is happy. If someone has to arouse him he is not so happy. I guess that is pretty typical with most people huh? There are a few mornings here and there that Svea will wake up with a dry pull-up. She is getting closer to staying dry all night. Maybe this is super late....I'm not sure. We can't tell if she is peeing in it at night or right away after she wakes up due to being lazy;) ha!
The kids love going to Rita's house. Kieran was sick one day this past week and Svea was SO BUMMED that she had to come home too. She pleaded her case and asked if next time this happens if she can just stay there. Today she also got pink-eye (like her brother last weekend) and had to stay home. She was again...distraught about this:) Some mornings she goes to speech and she is loving that now with "Kendra" and says good-bye and skips away. Kieran still has his teachers come to the house and daycare. We meet at the end of the month to talk about next year when he will need to come to them to get services:( Not excited about that or the thought of possibly needing to use transportation.
On days that the kids are home with us during the day they play with so many different things. They love to build a house of bricks downstairs in the family room with toy bricks, puzzle boxes, and toys to keep the big bad wolf out. Kieran loves to say the phrase..."I will huff and puff and BLOOOOOW your house in". Then he proceeds to blow and blow and it is so cute! Svea has been into playing dress up a lot more lately. She wears her heals from Larry and Darcy and has dresses on. When it was time for her to have her drops (pink-eye) she asked me if they could be called her princess drops.
Suppertime is a toss up. You never know if they are going to eat and how well they might do so. We keep putting food in front of them and say prayers that they get enough. Svea is getting quite a bit better although she struggles with smells REALLY bad. At times she cries and runs up to her room gagging because of a certain smell we are cooking in the kitchen. Kieran will often just say, "I like peanut butter sandwhich" and try to pull open the fridge door to get to his bread or pull-out a big ol' jar of pb from the pantry and put it on the counter for us.
They both still enjoy bath time and takes baths at the same time although the tub is starting to get rather crowded. I'm sure those days will be over soon. Rita has stopped having Svea take naps at daycare and Dan and I got our nights back! Can I get an AMEN! We feel just a bit more rested now that we can actually have some breathing time at night. Svea goes to bed like a breeze back to her normal time of 8:00-8:30. One night I walked downstairs at 8:01! Miracle....it makes for less crabby kids in the morning too. This picture above is horribly blurry, but I had to share it. They were playing "Room on the Broom" which is a cute children's book they got from Grandpma and Grandpa D about a witch who takes on a cat, dog, and frog as guests on her broom. It's super cute and we even have the cartoon on Netflix, which Kieran loves, but Svea trembles in fear. It is a bit scary animated as compared to just in the book.
So those are just a few little stories about our babies. I know one of Dan's favorite moments are when he or I leave the house. The kids love to wave good-bye at the window and they just look so sweet and are so sweet. Svea still loves to give and receive kissing hands (two on each hand) and then a kiss on the lips and a hug. That is her OCD good-bye ritual and we wouldn't have it any other way!
Some things that are new with us....we are breathing! Ha! No kidding. We are getting through some sickness (nothing crazy major/so THANKFUL for) and balancing the taking off of work between us. We are taking a financial class at church on Sunday nights. We both continue to love our job and are slowly making friends. My good friend Krista is coming in a few weeks to see us and in May I am running the Fargo marathon relay with my old boss Mindi, Krista, and another friend Kelly. I have no idea why I said yes other than I miss them so much and just want to hang out with them. My lungs may scream at me later since I no longer run. I'm too into the Dornfeld gym to care about running anymore. I'll probably hopefully get some in starting in March. I told them I'm not training until it hits 45 outside. No WAY! Dan is out right now having a drink with the senior pastor from Trinity Lutherran (Simon). I'm so happy he's got that relationship with him. He is a super great guy and FUNNY! They had us over for dinner last month and it was a hoot!
Until next time:)
