We had to say goodbye to Riker three weeks ago. It was a painful day and stressful leading up to his departure. We were all very sad, but it made it even harder when we got home that night and Svea bawled when she saw that he wasn't there. Kieran kept trying to look for him and saying "Riker gone" and it was just hard. The kids are adjusting and so are we, but we sure do miss him. He was such a sweet soul. He was one of the nicest dogs I've ever known...and good. What a good dog he was. I remember how much more appreciative I was of him when we brought Svea home from the hospital and he was so gentle around her. And how as the kids grew how sweet he was with them. He was even super kind to Meeko. We will bury his ashes in our backyard and give some to Larry and Darcy in Paynesville as well. We used to joke that he was more their dog than ours because they loved him so much.
