Kieran! You are 12 months old and we can't believe how fast this year has flown by! Here is what you've been up to! You are still nursing about 4 times a day and quickly losing interest, but not really picking up onto milk yet either. We've tried cow's milk here and there and you'll maybe take one sip. When you do eat solids you like watermelon, crackers, Cheerios, dried peas, baked beans, and cheese. At other points you have tried and liked sweet potatoes and black beans, but have since boycotted them. We keep trying new things!
You took off in the learning department this last month. You can clap (in your own funky way), wave bye-bye, give high fives, and give kisses (open mouth) and hugs when we ask you to. You love to hug our necks super tight. Mom loves it when I dance with you and you kick your legs in excited as I hold you on my hip. You love to jump, crawl, and climb. The other day you climbed up onto the ottoman and gave me this toothy grin like you knew you weren't supposed to be doing that. I let you go and followed you close to see what you would do up there. After awhile you swung your legs around and came down on your belly. I was very proud.....we didn't even teach you how to do that. You also took your first steps this month, but haven't shown much interest since then.
I'm guessing you weight 18-19 lbs. We go to the dr. on Thursday. Dr. UPDATE- You weight 18 lbs. 6 oz (11%) and are 28 1/4 inches long (6%). You are a peanut! Your hemoglobin was a tiny bit low so the dr. wants you to do a multivitamin for a little bit and said it was probably due to the fact that you are a picky eater...stinker! Even though his percentages seem low the dr. said he is right on track and doing just fine! His Daddy was tiny too! Kieran is 5 ounces less and a quarter inch shorter than Svea at this age. You had four shots today:( You cried hard, but as soon as I picked you up you quit:) Dr. UPDATE OVER. You wear a size 3 diaper/4 at night. You are in 12 month clothes and we are so thankful for birthday gifts of 12 month jammies because you need them desperately! You are still not sleeping through the night, but since "operation sleep through then night' things have improved. We are getting there. Going to talk to your pediatrician on what to do with a kid who scoffs at "cry it out" which I've resorted to often to no avail. You dig your heels in and you're in it! Game on Mom!
You are still super smiley and happy. You've also started to get a little temper when you don't get your way or take something away. Someone has taught you very well what a scream of frustration is. I'm not naming names, but she might be in the picture below: We love you Kieran! We love watching you grow and learn. Sometimes we just like to watch you play and see your little brain thinking. We love to snuggle with you and read to you. We love to chase you and make you laugh! We love you so much!
Here's a comparison of your sister. From these pictures I don't think I'd even know you two were related if I didn't know you. You are a Dornfeld my dear boy:)
